Marie-Eve Girard, CPA/ABV
Marie-Eve Girard is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida in 2000. Ms. Girard has over 17 years of experience in Forensic Accounting including family law and business valuations. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms. Girard is actively involved in promoting the Collaborative Process and has participated as a Neutral Financial Professional in multiple cases in the Tampa Bay Area. Ms. Girard believes that Collaborative Divorce greatly speed up the process while keeping costs reasonable. For families unfortunately facing divorce, this is a better way to preserves dignity, self-respect and protects children from unnecessary emotional turmoil. For two years, Ms. Girard was Co-Chair of Next Generation Divorce. She is currently a member of Next Generation Divorce, Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals and International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
Ms. Girard is an instructor for the financial section of the Family Mediation Certification Training and also provides mediation services for spouses who want to settle on their terms rather than having a Judge decide their future. Divorce financial consultation and tax services are also available and help spouses understand the financial aspects of their divorce.
Ms. Girard provides expert witness testimony. She is recognized as an expert witness in the in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Hernando Counties.
Ms. Girard is originally from Montreal, Canada and moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1995 after being awarded a tennis scholarship at the University of South Florida. While studying at USF, Ms. Girard received multiple awards such as National Dean’s List, Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Scholar Athlete All-American Award. Ms. Girard is bilingual, fluently speaking French and English. She enjoys spending time with her spouse and twins. She is fond of traveling, camping, and staying active.
Sonya Johnson, CPA/CFF/ABV
Sonya Johnson is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). She has her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida. Ms. Johnson has over 14 years of experience in accounting and has provided expert witness testimony at trial and deposition. She is experienced in many areas of forensic accounting including family law and other litigation. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms. Johnson is qualified in business valuation and certified in financial forensics. She has experience in business valuations for family law and other litigation purposes as well as for gift and estate, ESOP valuation, and other business purposes. Other experience in forensic accounting includes litigation support, joint expert assistance, expert witness testimony, mediation assistance and consulting, and financial neutral work (Collaborative Law). In addition, Ms. Johnson has experience in individual, corporate and estate/gift tax preparation and consulting.
She is very active in promoting the Collaborative approach to divorce and other litigation areas. She is a member of Next Generation Divorce. She has served on the Membership Committee, the Training Committee, and the Marketing Committee. She is a member of Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals and has served on the Program Committee. She is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and volunteers her time for the local pro bono collaborative divorce effort.
Ms. Johnson attended University of South Florida to obtain her accounting degree while working full-time and raising her two children as a single parent. She understands first-hand the difficulties facing the family going through a divorce. Ms. Johnson enjoys gardening and is a fitness and Zumba enthusiast. She also enjoys spending time with her adult children and her husband.
